Two new species of fireflies are described from the Bosque de Niebla Sanctuary, Veracruz, Mexico: 𝐴𝑜𝑟𝑝ℎ𝑎𝑙𝑙𝑢𝑠 𝑛𝑜𝑣𝑒𝑙𝑜𝑖 sp. nov and 𝑃ℎ𝑜𝑡𝑖𝑛𝑢𝑠 𝑟𝑖𝑐𝑎𝑟𝑑𝑎𝑒 sp. nov. 𝐴𝑜𝑟𝑝ℎ𝑎𝑙𝑙𝑢𝑠 𝑛𝑜𝑣𝑒𝑙𝑜𝑖 sp. nov. differs from the only other species of the genus by its larger size, coloration and morphological characteristics present in the clype and elytra, thus extending the known distribution of the genus 𝐴𝑜𝑟𝑝ℎ𝑎𝑙𝑙𝑢𝑠. 𝑃ℎ𝑜𝑡𝑖𝑛𝑢𝑠 𝑟𝑖𝑐𝑎𝑟𝑑𝑎𝑒 sp. nov. is distinguished from 𝑃ℎ𝑜𝑡𝑖𝑛𝑢𝑠 𝑎𝑙𝑑𝑟𝑒𝑡𝑒𝑖 by its larger size and the morphology of its aedeagus. With this new record, the genus 𝑃ℎ𝑜𝑡𝑖𝑛𝑢𝑠 in Veracruz amounts to 43 species, highlighting the importance of the state for the diversity of this genus in Mexico.References
