Abstract

Staphylinids from the state of Tlaxcala, Mexico, were studied based on the review of specimens collected in the state over the past 20 years and the search of published records. Twenty-five species were taxonomically identified, while another 67 taxa were determined at different supraspecific levels. According to the information available in the literature, 15 species had previously been recorded for Tlaxcala; in the present work, ten new records for the entity are incorporated. Additional records are provided for some species and a taxonomic list is presented for all taxa of the state (92). Although the species richness of Staphylinidae in Tlaxcala has increased, placing the state in a better position compared to other states in the country, further studies and advances in the identification at the species level of many groups of staphylinids are still needed.
