Se estudió la mirmecofauna en el Cerro De La Culebra, Arandas, Jalisco. Se colectó con trampas de caída cebadas con miel, atún, fruta, calamar y sin cebo; en tres sitios con diferente tipo de vegetación y a diferente altitud (msnm): bosque tropical caducifolio a 1,935; bosque tropical caducifolio- encino a 2,092 y bosque de encino a 2,228. Se obtuvieron 2,588 especímenes, pertenecientes a seis subfamilias, 19 géneros y 32 morfoespecies. Diez especies se colectaron en uno sólo de los sitios, tres especies se comparten en los tres sitios: Crematogaster sp. 1, Pheidole sp. 2 y Pogonomyrmex barbatus. El bosque de encino presentó el mayor número de especies, 18. La subfamilia más diversa y abundante fue Myrmicinae, 16 especies y el 85% de las hormigas colectadas; seguida de Formicinae, nueve especies y el 7%. Pheidole fue el género más diverso y abundante, cinco especies y 1,286 individuos. El sitio de transición entre el bosque tropical caducifolio y encino mostró la menor dominancia, siendo además el más diverso. El análisis de Jaccard muestra que ninguno de los tres sitios tiene semejanza entre sí.Published
