Abstract

Here we present the first faunistic list of springtails (Collembola: Hexapoda) from the Nevado de Colima, Jalisco. A total of 2,424specimens were collected from soil samples. It includes 24 species, 21 genera and seven families. We have the first record from México ofgenera Gnathogastrura and the species: Hypogastrura perplexa Christiansen & Bellinger , Isotoma delta MacGillivray, Guthriella muskegisBorner, Sminthurides macnamarai Folsom & Mills and Sminthurus viridis Linnæus and 15 species are new records from Jalisco State, that increase to 98 the number of knowing species from the State. Also one specie are mentioned for first time from the Transmexican Volcanic Belt (TVB)
