Abstract

En este estudio se revisan las especies del género Balna Cameron. De las dos especies conocidas, solo B. nigriceps es considerada como especie válida y B. brasiliensis como incertae sedis. Se redescribe B. nigriceps y se describen cuatro nuevas especies: B. cordis n. sp., B. sinuosa n. sp. y B. unicarinata n. sp. de Venezuela, y B. variabilis n. sp., de Venezuela, Brasil y Argentina. Se incluye una clave de identificación que permite separar todas las especies de Balna. Los caracteres más importantes tanto a nivel genérico como específico son mencionados y fotografiados.
