Review of the genus Balna Cameron, 1883 (Hymenoptera: Figitidae: Aspicerinae)

Abstract

In this study the species from the genus Balna Cameron are revised. Balna nigriceps is considered as a valid species and B. brasiliensis as incertae sedis. Balna nigripes is redescribed and 4 new species are described: B. cordis n. sp., B. sinuosa n. sp., B. unicarinata n. sp. from Venezuela, and B. variabilis n. sp. from Venezuela, Brasil and Argentina. An identification key is included to determine all species. The main features of the genus and species level are mentioned and shown on pictures.
