Annotated list and key for the genera of the Limnichidae family (Coleoptera: Byrrhoidea) of Mexico

Abstract

A synopsis on the taxonomy and distributional information regarding the family Limnichidae from Mexico is presented. An annotated checklist of the genera and species, geographic records for each state, and a key to subfamilies and genera are included. The family Limnichidae  is represented in Mexico by 3 subfamilies, 12 genera and 42 species, corresponding to 80% of the genera and 31% of American species, and to 86% and 71% of Mesoamerica, respectively. The states with the greatest species richness are Morelos (14), Chiapas (11) and Veracruz (10). Phalacrichus atomarius Sharp is recorded by the first time for the state of Veracruz, Mexico.
