Abstract

In this work the species of 𝑀𝑦𝑟𝑡𝑜𝑝𝑠𝑒𝑛 are revised. All the known species of Myrtopsen are redescribed, except M. mayri (type material lost) and M. rufipes (redescription recently published). Myrtopsen mayri, not collected since its description, is morphologically very similar to M. platensis, according to the original description; the validity of this last species is discussed. Four new species are described: M. dettmeri Ros-Farré n. sp. (from Brasil), M. levisulcus Ros-Farré & Pujade-Villar n. sp. (USA), M. maesi Ros-Farré & Pujade-Villar n. sp. (Nicaragua) and M. punctuatus Ros-Farré n. sp. (México). A key to all the species of Myrtopsen is provided. All the diagnostic characters of the genus and species are given and illustrated.
