A study was conducted to evaluate the impact of the Maya Train construction on edaphic biodiversity. For this purpose, several collections were made in 2024, during the months of June and July, at the end of the dry season and the beginning of the rainy season. A total of 28 leaf litter samples and 28 soil samples were collected. The leaf litter samples were processed using Berlese funnels, while the soil samples were analyzed to determine moisture content using the gravimetric method. The Shannon & Wiener diversity index, the Simpson dominance index, and Pielou's equitability index were calculated to assess edaphic biodiversity. A list of mites and springtails species found in the study area is presented and compared with similar studies conducted in well-preserved sites in the Yucatán Peninsula. Finally, the loss of edaphic biodiversity associated with vegetation clearing and soil erosion was analyzed based on the data obtained in the study.References
