Abstract

Biogeographical patterns obtained from a parsimony analysis of endemicity of the ants of the Baja California Peninsula and Sonora, arepresented. A geographical distribution map was done and an absence/presence data matrix of the ants was generated. Two areas of endemism were obtained, one representing the peninsula and the other the continent, as well as two less inclusive endemicity areas were recognized forthe peninsula. It is expected that by improving the knowledge of the ants inhabiting such areas it will be possible to generate more robust biogeographical hypotheses for these organisms.
